Feeling overwhelmed by online learning? You are not alone in feeling that way! Here are 5 tips you need to manage your online classes and keep track of it!

With the everyday change in technology and AI features, we get to see a lot of new apps just coming up on our phones, and many updates popping up on notifications. But that was fine, until it hit our classrooms. In a day, students attend 2 to 4 classes on the Zoom meeting platform. With this sudden change from physical classes to online classes, some students feel overwhelmed and happen to lose their performance.

As we prepare for our upcoming online class, we want to share with you some best practices that will ensure timely and maximum attendance, and in turn, help you derive the most benefit from the class. You may be sitting at home in your room, eating a snack while taking a class. Believe me! It does sound fancy, but it's no good.

Here are 5 tips to follow before joining our online Zoom class so you also get to enjoy your learning experience:

  1. If you have received your class invite on your Gmail. Open that mail and click “view on calendar”. This will open your calendar, and a pop-up will show as given below. Mark ‘Yes’ to the Google calendar invite so that you can receive notifications on your device.
  2. Attend the class at a dedicated work table to avoid unnecessary distractions and background noise. Sit in a separate room or anyplace with less background noise so your audio doesn’t get mixed with it and you get to concentrate fully. Sitting on a couch or bed while taking a class is a bad idea! So make sure you have a specific working table or area where you can take your class and concentrate fully.
  3. Now this is very important! We are using our devices all day, and we never pay attention to the charging. So make sure whenever it is time for your class, plug your device into a charger 30 minutes before so you don’t have to get up in the middle of class to charge it. Make sure your laptop is charged or plugged in.
  4. Ensure that your internet is working well in advance of the class. Take the class with a headset or handsfree to ensure the best communication. Test your camera and microphone before joining the class by using websites like https://webcamtests.com and https://www.onlinemictest.com
  5. Be available at least 5 minutes before the class starts to join the meeting and ensure that you have the link.

Prioritize Wellness:

  1. Schedule breaks: Get up, move around, and take short breaks to recharge your mind and body. Incorporate physical activity into your routine to stay energized and focused.
  2. Maintain a healthy lifestyle: Get enough sleep, eat nutritious meals, and stay hydrated. Taking care of your physical and mental well-being is crucial for optimal online learning.

Seek Support:

Don’t hesitate to reach out! If you’re struggling with a concept, contact your instructors or advisors for guidance. Utilize online resources and help channels offered by your platform or institution.

Following these best practices will help you make the most out of your online learning experience. We look forward to seeing you in our upcoming class.
