AI: Magic, Myth, or Math? Build Your First AI Model

Ages 10–16 Group format

Is AI magic or is there math behind the magic? Discover how machines learn from data
in this free, hands-on workshop using Teachable Machine.

Train your own AI models to recognize images, poses, and sounds using a camera and microphone of your PC and see what happens when your model starts making predictions!

What you’ll learn:

  • Understand AI & Machine Learning
  • See how data trains AI models
  • Train models for images, poses & sounds
  • Test your model and make prediction
Prerequisites
  • Students should be 10 years or older and comfortable with basic computer use, including browsing the internet, using a webcam and microphone, and sharing their screen.
  • Students should have basic familiarity with Zoom or Google Meet and be comfortable turning their camera/mic on and off. Basic coding experience (e.g: Scratch) is recommended but not required.
  • A typing speed of 15 Words Per Minute (WPM) is recommended. Students can practice at Typing.com or MonkeyType.

Ammarah WakeelWorkshop Host

I'm an Electrical Engineering undergraduate at UET Lahore and a Research Assistant at MEDS Lab, where I work on open-source RISC-V processor design under Prof. David Harris (Harvey Mudd College). As a Learning Facilitator at TSE, I’m passionate about making technology simple, practical, and exciting for young learners. In this workshop, I’ll help learners explore what AI really is, how machines learn from data, and how they can build and train their own AI models using Teachable Machine.
